That's right. I made a playlist consisting of the 59 happiest songs on my iTunes. The title? "Homesick to Happy." It's full proof. There's no way I can cry after listening to "Honky Cat" by Elton, "No Scrubs" by TLC, or "Green Green Dress" from Tick, Tick...BOOM! Not that these are my favorites, but they make me smile, that's for sure. "Bennie and the Jets" just so happens to be playing right now. I think that this was one of my better ideas. Music can make me feel almost any emotion and I chose all of the songs that we dance to and lip sync to with over dramatic faces. You all know what I am talking about here. You do it in the car and I do it in Spain. Either way, it gets your mind off everything. I find myself snapping a lot too. Hmm.
I had a pretty good day. This morning I woke up and read my book. I'm a little over half way now. It's a great book. I recommend it. It's a really quick read too. So if you're bored one weekend, run to the library and pick up The Perks of Being a Wallflower. After reading I logged onto facebook and saw that one of the other exchange students that lives really close to me here was on. I was so sick of being in the apartment so I asked her, Athena (yes she's Greek), if she wanted to meet up and go on a walk. Our walk lasted three hours! It was great. We walked down to the old part of town having no clue where we really were. We stumbled across the Navarra Museum. Turns out it was free, so we enjoyed three levels of gorgeous paintings, photography, mosaics, carved stone, and artifacts for an hour. There is so much history here. It is just so crazy. I looked it up the other night and Alliance was founded in 1854. Pompey founded Pamplona. Enough said? While in the museum, Athena and I came across two women traveling around Europe. They're from Australia. I just a flashback to the fourth grade when "Australia" was a spelling word. Miss Liverett would each word one by one slowly, but I memorized the entire list and order so I was done was before everyone else. Honestly, how does one become nerdier than that? I don't think I had many friends in the fourth grade.
After leaving the museum Athena and I headed for Parque Yamaguchi. It's a Japanese style park near our part of town. It is such a beautiful place. There are many fountains and waterfalls and the grass it the best color green. There is also a huge willow tree which automatically reminded me of evenings at Aunt Patty's old condo (I saw old because she used to live there...the condo is really nice and everything) . Brandi and I would play by the willow tree while the adults made dinner and talked. I asked Brandi today if she remembered doing this and she said "suuuuure." I think she believes I'm imagining this. Whatever Bran.
I came home around 2 and then soon after left for Merche's brother-in-law's birthday party. It was really nice. It actually reminded me of Thanksgiving. That's how much food was there. I was so full after lunch today. I had soup, bread, applesauce (homemade!), some kind of meat, and dessert. I am not much to all of that food in one sitting. Maite and I napped afterwards. Seeing the Thanksgiving relation? We headed back home around 5:30 and I read some more an then had a great night of skyping with Olivia, Brandi, Mom, Dad (for a few seconds haha), and Emily. It was so nice. I also got to chat with Taylor and Morgan. I miss them! They are sisters to me. I have so many sisters. You can never have enough. Olivia and I were talking tonight about how we are truly sisters and that it is so weird to refer to each other as "the exchange student we hosted" or "the host-sister." It's just so much more than that. We are truly sisters. I can't believe how perfectly everything worked out for us last year. We created a relationship that will last a life time in 10 months. We are so lucky the way things worked out. I love you, Livy.
Tonight as I was eating dinner I thought of some little differences in the way we eat, or what we eat. We don't only eat bread: we use it to help us eat. We break a little part off and help it to scoop things on to our fork that it can't pick up on its own. We also soak up the left over juice with the bread. All of the olives here have pits. I have never had an olive with a pit in it before I came here. At first I was terrible at eating them. My pit always had little chunks of olive on it where as Merche and Maite's had zero olive chunks. I have t say I am improving. Less and less chunks each time. I shouldn't have used chunks. It sounds a little gross. Maybe bits? I think bits would have been better...but you get the idea. Here they have miniature onions (about the size of an olive). I really love these little onions.
I'm excited to go to school tomorrow and listen. I can't wait to know this language and I know that I am learning so much in school just by listening. It's comes with headaches, but it will be worth it. I am sure. Well now it's time for me to do some more reading until I fall asleep. I might finish the book. Ha. "Hold Your Dream" from Fame just came on my "happy" playlist. It is a great song. You should listen to it! It's great. Time for me to get some sleep! Goodnight everyone. I love you.
I love you too my sister for ever!!
